Vegan BBQ Sauce

Making your own barbeque sauce is super easy and fun! This Vegan BBQ Sauce uses ingredients you already have in your pantry and takes less than 30 minutes to make!

  • 1 can tomato puree (15 ounce)
  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ½ cup agave nectar
  • 2 tablespoons agave nectar additional
  • cup molasses
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion
  • ¼ teaspoon liquid smoke
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegan Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice optional


  • Add all ingredients to a medium-sized pot. Bring to a simmer over medium-low heat, and continue simmering for 15 - 20 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and allow to cool. Place in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to one week or freeze for up to 3 months.
  • Use on BBQ Lentil Meatballs, "Beefy" Lentil Loaf, or as a dipping sauce with my Fried Oyster Mushroom recipe!
